Thanksgiving Update...

Our son, Paul, and his wife, Trinity, and sons, Andrew & Alex came in for the week of Thanksgiving!!!  We had a GREAT visit!  Lots of laughter, conversations, games played, food eaten, and general all-around FUN was had by all!!!

The boys think Grandpa is their own special playmate because he gets down on the floor and romps around with them!  They love to climb on his back and go for piggy-back rides!

Thank God we have a great chiropractor who can fix Grandpa up after this abuse!!!  LOL

Trinity is such a great cook and loves to do it, so she made most of our meals during the week and all of the desserts for Thanksgiving!   

Isn't she cute in my vintage apron???  If it hadn't have been for her...we may have all STARVED!  LOL  ;)

Andrew is 8 and is reading so well now!  He loves to pick up anything and read it...books, flyers, advertisements, etc!  Trinity says he especially loves to read directions or anything with "steps" to it, e.g. Step 1, Step 2, etc.  She says he reads the directions off of boxes to her when she is baking something.

Alex is 3 and does EVERYTHING Andrew does...even repeats everything he says after he says it!  

But...being 3 is hard work and he passed out shortly after we started watching "Finding Dory" on Thanksgiving evening...

Paul brought his new 357 Magnum with him and took me to do some target practice...

All in all...I think everybody had a fun week!  I know I did!!  :D  Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving, too!

Thanksgiving Recap...

Let's see...we're only slightly over 2 weeks past Thanksgiving Day...so...yeah...this post is right on time!  LOL

Our daughter, Erin, and her family came in for a few days to spend Thanksgiving with us!  We had a great visit and a very nice Thanksgiving dinner!

While they were here I gifted Erin & Dale with their wedding quilt!  This top was purchased from Ebay already hand-embroidered...I just hand-quilted it.  It is 100" x 100"...a king-size!!!

This week we celebrated Thanksgiving Day in the USA.  Our son, daughter-in-law and 2 grandsons came in from Georgia last Sunday and just left today.  Even though everyone was in different stages of being sick, including Andy, it was still a good visit.  Of course, I could have done without the gift of their illness that struck me down on Thanksgiving evening after dinner.  

Yep..as if falling down 2 steps onto the hardwood entryway floor on Tuesday (after climbing over the baby gate) wasn't bad enough...I finally succumbed to the crud that has been sweeping across everyone else.  

But onward and upward...since there is no where else to go when you are sick...here are some pictures from their visit...

...unfortunately, he's pretty clumsy and rolled down about 10 stairs (thank God they are carpeted) so we had to put a baby gate....

We will be traveling across the street to our friend's house for Thanksgiving dinner.   :)   My contribution to the meal is a cheese dip and crackers (both regular and gluten-free), a pumpkin pie, an apple pie, and a gluten-free, baked pumpkin custard.

I know, I know...I'm REALLY late in getting these Thanksgiving pictures and blog posted, but I have a very good excuse.

Yep, that's right...I came down with my "Third Annual Post-Holiday Cold".  :(

I have been sick since Monday morning.  Actually, the word "sick" doesn't quite describe how I've felt this week.  I think "miserable" works better.  But the kicker is that I had to continue to go to work feeling this way.  You see, my employer has a limit on "occurrences" that you can have, ie, "call-offs".  Since I'm part-time, I can only have 2 occurrences in a rolling calendar year.  If you have more than that, you get "disciplined" and it goes in your file.  Well, I've already had my 2 occurrences for the year, so I drugged myself with every possible cold medicine I could find in the house and took my sick body to work.  I guess they would rather have you infect all of the other employees rather than stay home and take your hard-earned sick pay, (which I have plenty of from years of not calling off sick.)    :(

So...onto the Thanksgiving family visit photos...shall we??

Happy Thanksgiving to all my family, friends, and US readers!  

 

Today is the day we take a few minutes between cooking the turkey, baking the pies, watching football, and planning our Black Friday shopping, to remember just how truly blessed we are.  

My children and their families have all traveled in from their home states so that we can be under the same roof for this holiday and enjoy each others company.  

So...I'm going to cut this post short and get started on making the "coke salad", pumpkin pies, pecan pies, and candy cane cheese cake!  After that, Andy will get the turkey into the oven.
